Seeing as I've written so many theme park area reviews recently I've changed it up and today i'm listing 5 of the best non Theme Park Attractions in the UK!
1. Longleat Safari Park, Warminster
Longleat Safari Park is a huge Theme Park / Safari / Zoo attraction located south of Bath. The main attraction is the expansive Safari Drive Thru, with Lions, Tigers, Zebras, Giraffes and most iconically, the Monkey Drive Thru. There's also a main square, featuring a few small children's rides, a jungle cruise, a bird show, a hedge maze and some more unique animals. My favourite animals were the Koalas and Wombats in the Oceania area 😍. The thing I love most about Longleat is the range of activities they have. Lots of other UK zoos are harder to spend lots of time at. Even the food is great!
We got to see their Winter lights as we went in January this year. They made the square feel so magical and the Christmas tree light show was a good touch.
2. Warwick Castle, Warwick
Warwick Castle is a Merlin-Owned Castle and grounds in the midlands. It has tons of shows and entertainment along with playgrounds, a Horrible Histories maze, lots of castle rooms to walk around and a giant trebuchet (which they put up for sale on facebook marketplace recently?). The Castle is free entry with a Merlin Annual Pass and has a nearby cred at St Nicholas Park.
3. Zip World Tower, Aberdare
I was honestly so surprised by this place! They opened the Tower Coaster last season which looks so fun! We had this booked last year but they had to close it for maintenance so I couldn't ride. However, we tried out their 2 zip lines which were both amazing! We visited during some pretty dire weather but that led to us being able to ride them in thick fog. It was terrifying but so much fun! I can't wait to return at some point in the future to try out the Tower Coaster.
4. Escape Hunt Escape Rooms
I'm a bit of a secret escape room enthusiast and try to visit them across the UK. My favourite escape room company by far is Escape Hunt. They have loads of locations across the UK in cities such as Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Manchester & Liverpool. They've also recently opened a few in other European countries such as Oslo, Norway and Barcelona, Spain. The level of storytelling they manage to pull off in rooms that aren't too big is incredible, you get really immersed in the world your room exists in! They have great variation in puzzles that involve both physical and mental challenges.
5. Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool
Probably my favourite waterpark in the UK, Sandcastle Waterpark is one of my must visit attractions in the UK. Having recently been taken over by Merlin Entertainments, I'm really excited for the future of this waterpark! Master Blaster, Aztec Falls & Montazooma were my favourite slides at this park but the Sidewinder was really cool too. It gets quite busy but the 3 hour time slot gives you more than enough time to get on the slides you want and it has very good value entry!
