Ah, Alton Towers, my favourite theme park in the UK. I honestly was a little worried about writing this, because I didn't really know where to start when saying how to improve the park. But after some brainstorming, I came up with some ideas.
In terms of big future investments, I'd like to see 1 if not 2 new big coasters by 2031. Potential sites for these would be Rita's area, Near Duel or where Spinball Whizzer currently is. It's hard to come up with a new coaster type that would fit Towers, as there isn't really a big gap in their lineup apart from a hyper/giga coaster or RMC, but we all know that wouldn't happen. So instead, I was thinking either a water coaster or Intamin multi launch coaster (similar to most other people).
Something definitely missing from the park's lineup is flat rides, which I have 3 potential ideas for. The first being a family friendly drop tower located on the old site of Submission, in X-Sector. This could be really well themed to match the area of X-Sector and the site already has some queue line fences left from when Submission was there. Another idea is an Intamin Gyroswing like Loke at Liseberg either in Forbidden Valley or the grass between the Skyride and burger kitchen outside Hex. This would be a good fit for Towers because they lack flat rides so much😂 and is a good thrilling ride to offer a different thrill ride other than the coasters. Now I'll admit, this last one isn't because it would be good for Towers or because it would be easy to get, It's just cos I miss Ripsaw and Rameses Revenge, but I'd love to see a Huss Suspended Top Spin in the old location of Ripsaw or in the Dark Forest. I just loved the ride experience, water element and stunning visual appeal from off ride. I don't think that last one will actually happen, but I can dream!
The park's 2 dark rides are standouts of the park's lineup; I don't think either of them need to be changed, but I could see in the future a trackless dark ride extending on the chained Oak storyline of Hex, but with it's own twist. This probably wont happen either as they are opening Gangsta Granny which is a storyline based dark ride, but if this didn't happen, I'd still like them to extend on that storyline more, as it is so original and was done so well with Hex. But, I personally don't think this would need to happen any time soon as there are more important things the park's lineup needs (e.g flat rides😂)
Water rides have never been a big part of Towers, so I don't think they're needed (especially in British weather) but if they were to put one in, I'd like to see an Intamin log flume like Chiapas. I don't know where this could go, but I think a log flume would be good as The Flume is now gone.
In the next 10 years, I'd like to see 1 or 2 new coasters along with the removal of Rita and/or Spinball. They 100% need more flat rides, at least 2 or 3, and maybe a water or dark ride. As well as this, they could remove The Blade and refurbish it like Chessington are doing with Black Bucaneer and I could also see an extention of Cbeebies land.
What do you think Towers will invest in in the future?
